The Rockey Research Group studies the survival and transmission of pathogens in natural and engineered systems, with a focus on identifying strategies that will mitigate spread. We use culture-dependent and culture-independent approaches to answer research questions, and we work across systems spanning controlled laboratory experiments to real-world settings. Ultimately, this work seeks to improve our understanding of human health risks and find effective ways to reduce overall disease burden.
